"A refreshingly modern and surprisingly poignant take on the Hades and Persephone myth . . . steamy, often laugh-out-loud funny, and emotional."-Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times bestselling author of From Blood and Ash "It is natural for a King to be curious about his future Queen. . . ." All of Olympus-and the Underworld-are talking about the God of the Dead and the sprightly daughter of Demeter. But despite the rumors of their romance, Hades and Persephone have plenty to navigate on their own. Since coming to Olympus, Persephone has struggled to be the perfect maiden goddess. Her attraction to Hades has only complicated the intense burden of the gods' expectations. As Persephone contemplates her future, Hades struggles with his past, falling back into toxic habits in Minthe's easy embrace. Fall deep into the Underworld with this Amazon Best Selling YA Fantasy Series! Contains the entire Daughter of Hades Series: Book 1: Endangered Book 2: Engaged Book 3: Entangled Book 4: Enchanted Be swept off your feet by this fresh take of Greek gods, goddesses, and demigods as they travel through the Underworld and into the streets of London! Hidden in the Underworld for thousands of years by her father Hades, Chrys wishes she could leave and see the human world. However, she knows that if any of the gods find her, and discover her dichotomous power over life and death, they will destroy her. So she has remained in the Underworld Palace for her entire life, making very few friends, and always bored as hell, no pun intended. Huntley never imagined that after he died, he would wake up with a magnificent girl standing over him, especially one claiming to be the daughter of Hades. The Greek gods are real, and the god of the Underworld apparently has a daughter. Instead of sending him to the afterlife, she keeps him around to be her "tutor", even though he obviously doesn't have any expertise in anything other than being a punk. It is clear she wants him around to be her friend, and it is a task Huntley has no problem taking. But after a big fight with her mother Persephone, Chrys can't take it anymore and has to see what the human world is all about. Her and her two best friends decide to check out London, since that seems to be her mother's favorite place recently. It would just be for a couple of days, so nothing could go wrong on the streets of London, right? Fans of Lore Olympus, Percy Jackson, and The Faerie Games will enjoy! Hades and Persephone's love-struck misadventures. The classic tale of Greek mythology, but 100 percent more awkwardly relatable. Hades is the officious, antisocial ruler of the Underworld. Persephone, daughter of Demeter, is an earth goddess of growth and renewalÑthey've been crushing on each other for the past two centuries. But when a festival (and a little liquid courage) present an opportunity to put an end to their olympian will-they-won't-they, a meddlesome pantheon and several titanic misassumptions threaten to give every god in the sky the wrong impression...and leave their romance dead before it can bloom.

On the Origin of Myths in Catastrophic Experience vol 1 Preliminaries PDF Book Detail Author: Marinus Anthony van der Sluijs
Publisher: All-Round Publications
ISBN: 1999438329
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction

Pages : 479

Book Description
Creation myths around the world reveal an intricate network of recurrent motifs. Many of these are counterintuitive and not widely known, describing a time when the sky was low, the stars did not yet shine, multiple suns appeared, the moon was brighter than the sun, no land existed, deities and mortals maintained frequent contact, a 'world axis' in the form of a tree, ladder or giant man connected the earth with the sky, a devastating flood or fire ended the old order, and so forth. The present work, in multiple volumes, aims to find an origin for this cross-culturally and internally consistent body of traditions in a series of extraordinary natural events relating especially to the earth's transition from the last glacial period to the Holocene. This first volume sets the stage for the interdisciplinary hypothesis. Essential lines of research receive a historical introduction: comparative mythology, catastrophism and the study of the mythical world axis in relation to the earth's rotation. Various astronomical and meteorological interpretations that are not strictly catastrophist are explored for several types of myths about the sun, the moon and the world axis, but leave many of the most intriguing traditions unexplained. It is argued that a structural core of the worldwide mythology of 'creation and destruction', in which the cosmic axis takes pride of place, points to a specific period of dramatic natural circumstances in real prehistoric time. A new synopsis is provided of this universal mythological substrate. It emerges that the mythical world axis cannot have been based on a single object seen or imagined at one of the poles, as has usually been supposed. This surprising conclusion paves the way for the innovative geomagnetic theory proposed in volume 2.

Traditional Cosmology vol 1 Preliminaries Formation

Traditional Cosmology vol 1 Preliminaries Formation PDF Book Detail Author: Marinus Anthony van der Sluijs
Publisher: All-Round Publications
ISBN: 0955665531
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 285

Book Description
This work, in 6 volumes, is a compendium of traditional cosmologies worldwide. The material includes the global mythology of creation and destruction, but also comprises information drawn from other areas of traditional knowledge, ritual, iconography, shamanism, costume, and dance. Relying on original sources, universal points of agreement are identified, often on counter-intuitive ideas. These suggest a single template, a blueprint for a universal mythology of origins with local variations. In volume 1, the cosmos is seen to develop from an original state of chaos, via the transitory stage of a fundamental enclosing particle, into a 'sheet system' of sky, atmosphere, earth and underworld, joined by the cosmic axis.
